Concerto for Flute and Wind Ensemble

Solo Flute with Concert Band
(Level: Advanced)

I wrote my Concerto for Flute and Wind Ensemble in early 2008 when my friend Ginny Hudson, who teaches flute at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, randomly said, 'You should write me a concerto.' A week later, I came to her with the first movement and she had completely forgotten that she had even said it. Nevertheless, she loved it and encouraged me to continue.

Over the summer, I completed the other two movements. The first performance was in February of 2009, with Ginny playing the flute accompanied by the River Valley Community Band in Fort Smith, with Charles Booker conducting.

A piano reduction is also available; contact me for details.
